"Living with integrity means: not settling for less than what you know you deserve in your relationships. Asking for what you want and need from others. Speaking your truth, even though it may create conflict or tension. Behaving in ways that are in harmony with your personal values. Making choices based on what you believe, and not what others believe."
It started in my early twenties, this conversation with myself - a powerful, always present internal dialogue...“Who am I? What do I want? This isn’t working! I’m uncomfortable. I want this! That worked. This fits nicely. That’s a weakness. Here’s a strength.” It’s broken me down, built me up, and left me confused too many times to count.
An invaluable tool. A priceless commentary.
The outcome being a gift of self-awareness. It's feeling. It's raw emotion. Rarely presented in a package, neat and tidy. It's tough work. Requiring objectivity. It’s vulnerability. It’s honesty. It takes self-love. It’s confidence. It’s living with integrity. It’s my truth.
This conversation helped mold me. It established my values, enhanced my vision, and elevated my world. Add to this life experiences and knowledge collected, and I have, today, a fairly clear picture of what I consider to be my best life. I daydream about it. I put it down on paper. I share it. I live toward it.
To challenge, uncertainty, and conflict; I will stay my course. I know where I'm headed. I know what I desire. I know what I deserve. I can handle push back. I'll be ready for detours. I can shake distraction. I will overcome.
